Install Orbit on Linux, macOS, or Windows — download a prebuilt release, or build it from source with Bun or npm.
Orbit ships as a desktop application. On Linux you can run the portable AppImage, install a native package for your distribution, or build from source. macOS and Windows builds are not attached to releases yet.
bun.lock.The AppImage is a single portable executable and the recommended download for most Linux users. It needs no installation — download it from the releases page, make it executable, and run it.
Download the AppImage
Grab Orbit-1.0.0.AppImage from the releases page.
Open a terminal in the download folder
For example, cd ~/Downloads.
Make it executable
Run chmod +x Orbit-1.0.0.AppImage.
Run Orbit
Run ./Orbit-1.0.0.AppImage.
chmod +x Orbit-1.0.0.AppImage
./Orbit-1.0.0.AppImageFor Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, and other Debian-based distributions, install the .deb with apt so dependencies resolve automatically:
sudo apt install ./Orbit-1.0.0.debIf your system cannot install local files directly, use sudo dpkg -i Orbit-1.0.0.deb, then run sudo apt-get install -f to fix any missing dependencies.
For Arch Linux and compatible distributions, install the package with pacman:
sudo pacman -U Orbit-1.0.0.pacmanClone the repository and install dependencies with your package manager of choice. Bun is recommended because it matches the committed lockfile.
