Troubleshooting

Fix common Orbit problems: empty results, missing directories, and editors or terminals that will not open.

The dashboard is empty

Confirm the projects directory in Settings → General — it defaults to `<your home directory>/Projects` but may have been changed to a custom folder.
Make sure each project contains a package.json; folders without one are ignored.
Check the directory card in the sidebar. A green dot means the directory was read successfully; amber means it was not.
Hit Re-scan in Settings after adding or moving projects.

A project is missing from All Projects

It may belong to a workspace. Workspace members appear in the Workspaces view rather than All Projects. See Workspaces.

No editor or terminal opens

Open Settings → Applications and check the Code editor and Terminal preferences.
On Auto, Orbit probes a fixed list. Install one of those applications, or pick a preset, or switch to Custom and enter the exact command.
A pinned application that later moved or was uninstalled is reported rather than replaced — choose another one in Settings.
Editor commands may include flags, for example a custom command of code --wait.

A scan failed

Orbit keeps the last good results on screen when a rescan fails, and safely skips unreadable folders and malformed manifests. Check the directory permissions, then rescan.
