How Orbit detects monorepos and multi-package workspaces, groups their member packages, and keeps standalone projects separate.
Orbit understands monorepos. A workspace root is a directory whose package.json declares a workspaces field. Orbit treats that root as a container and groups the packages inside it.
package.json that declares a workspaces field is the only workspace configuration Orbit recognizes — the npm, Yarn, and Bun convention.workspaces globs, so the patterns themselves are not parsed.Each workspace group offers the same quick actions as a project — but applied to the workspace root. That makes it easy to open a whole monorepo in your editor or a terminal at once.
